MINSK. May 25 (Interfax) - While storing its non-strategic nuclear weapons in the Belarusian territory, Russia does not hand control over these weapons to Minsk and will be the one to make decisions on their use, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on Thursday.
"Russia is not giving nuclear weapons to Belarus, as control over them and a decision on their use remain in the hands of the Russian side," Shoigu said at a ceremony of signing documents setting rules for keeping Russian non-strategic nuclear weapons in a special storage facility in Belarus.
Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin signed the documents on behalf of Belarus.
"Additional measures may be taken in the future to ensure security of the Union State and respond to the military-political situation," Shoigu said.
