MOSCOW. May 25 (Interfax) - The Russian army is carrying out strikes on the Ukrainian army's positions in the Kharkov and Zaporozhye regions and in the Lugansk and Donetsk People's Republics, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said.
"In the Kupyansk sector, aviation and artillery from the Western group of forces hit enemy units near Masyutovka, Timkovka and Kotlyarovka in the Kharkov region, and Stelmakhovka in the Lugansk People's Republic," Konashenkov told a briefing on Thursday.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine lost up to 190 troops, three road vehicles, and a D-30 howitzer in this area over the past 24 hours, he said.
"In the southern Donetsk and Zaporozhye sectors, aviation, artillery and heavy flamethrower systems of the eastern group of forces hit enemy units near Novomikhailovka and Novoselka in the Donetsk People's Republic, and Malaya Tokmachka and Nesteryanka in the Zaporozhye region," Konashenkov said.
The Ukrainian army lost up to 110 troops, four road vehicles and two D-30 howitzers in these areas over the past 24 hours, he said.
"In the Donetsk sector, air and artillery strikes and active operations by the units of the southern group of forces destroyed up to 270 Ukrainian troops, three armored combat vehicles, two road vehicles, and a D-30 howitzer over the past 24 hours," Konashenkov said.
"In the Krasny Liman sector, tactical and army aviation, and artillery and heavy flamethrower systems of the central group of forces hit the enemy's units near Yampolovka in the Donetsk People's Republic, and Raigorodka and Chervonaya Dibrova in the Lugansk People's Republic," Konashenkov said.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces lost up to 65 troops, three pickup trucks, a self-propelled Gvozdika artillery system, and D-20 and D-30 howitzers in this sector over the past 24 hours, he said.
"In the Kherson sector, up to 25 Ukrainian troops, two road vehicles, and a self-propelled Gvozdika artillery system were destroyed by gunfire over the past 24 hours," the Russian Defense Ministry said.
