BAKU. May 25 (Interfax) - Azerbaijan and Turkey completed the Heydar Aliyev 2023 joint tactical exercise involving live firing in Turkey's Kars on Thursday; the exercise marked the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of Turkey and the 100th birthday of Azerbaijani national leader Heydar Aliyev.
As part of the exercise, special forces units conducted an operation to eliminate a mock terrorist group. Tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, artillery, and anti-tank units, supported by helicopters, destroyed the mock enemy's combat positions. Snipers performed shooting exercises, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said.
The troops of the separate combined arms army successfully accomplished all the tasks assigned, it said.
