BELGOROD. May 26 (Interfax) - Five districts of Russia's Belgorod region were attacked from Ukraine in the past 24 hours, there are no casualties, Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said.
"The Belgorod region has come under 14 attacks. Two attacks were perpetrated by drones. In particular, a drone dropped a bomb in Oktyabrsky. There are no casualties but an administrative building is damaged: windows are smashed and the facade and the roof are scratched by fragments. A quadcopter has been downed in Golovino, and there are neither casualties nor damage. Zhuravlyovka came under another artillery attack, a total of 12 shells were fired," Gladkov said on Telegram on Friday.
There were 12 attacks on the Volokonovka district. "Of this number, eight mortar shells were fired at Stary, and four mortar shells fell near Tishanka. There are no casualties or damage," he said.
Most of the attacks hit the Graivoron urban district, Gladkov said.
"The Graivoron district has found itself under numerous mortar and artillery attacks. Mortars and artillery shelled Kozinka. There were 132 hits, in all, including those on a border checkpoint, and roads and sidewalks were damaged," he said.
Three shells were fired at Graivoron, and five private houses were damaged - windows were smashed and fences and facades were scratched, while one extension was ruined and a car was scratched by shell fragments.
"Six shells hit Glotovo. A house was ruined, and windows were smashed and facades and fences were scratched in another two. A blast wave hit a store and a cultural center, where windows were smashed. The district was also attacked by drones and missiles: a drone was downed, and two missiles were intercepted," Gladkov said.
The Krasnaya Yaruga district was attacked by both drones and artillery, he added.
"A suicide drone fell on the outskirts of Staroselye. There are no casualties or damage. A shell fragment fell in Krasnaya Yaruga and damaged the roof of a private house. There are no casualties. Artillery hit the outskirts of Prilesye, four shells were fired but caused neither casualties nor damage," Gladkov said.
There were 35 attacks on the Shebekino urban district.
"Mortars and artillery shelled Surkovo, in all, 17 shells were fired without causing casualties or damage. In addition, drones, artillery and mortars attacked Novaya Tavolzhanka. A bomb dropped from a drone damaged the facade of an agricultural building but did not hurt anyone. Another two drones fell on a field without casualties or damage. The village was also hit by artillery and mortars. Facades were scratched and windows were smashed in two private houses," he said.
Seven artillery shells hit the village of Murom in the Shebekino urban district, Gladkov said.
"There are no civilian casualties, yet some farm animals are dead. Insignificant damage has been sustained by two private homes: their roofs and fences are scratched by fragments. A mortar shell hit the Shebekino border checkpoint," Gladkov said.
Border territories of the Belgorod region have sporadically come under attack from the Ukrainian side since February 24, 2022. Civilian casualties have been reported. The region has declared a yellow (high) level of terrorist threat and imposed a state of emergency in 15 border settlements.
