MOSCOW. May 26 (Interfax) - Old geographical maps will not be viewed as extremist materials and will not fall under the respective law, State Duma Security Committee Chairman Vasily Piskaryov said.
"All outstanding issues will be dealt with by the second reading, including the provision that historical or old maps and books and teaching materials containing them will not fall under the law," Piskaryov said on Telegram on Friday.
"The bill applies to maps, which deny the belonging of particular territories to our country, and liability will result from their intentional distribution aimed to question the Russian territorial integrity," he said.
The bill, which passed the first reading on December 14, 2022, is still being processed by the State Duma.
