Russia to commission Chukavin sniper rifle - Kalashnikov Group

MOSCOW. May 26 (Interfax) - Kalashnikov Group is preparing a draft decree on bringing the Chukavin sniper rifle into service, Kalashnikov's press service said on Friday.

"The Chukavin sniper rifle has begun to be delivered to the customer. Simultaneously, work is underway to draft a Russian government decree on bringing the Chukavin sniper rifle into service," it said.

The rifle is designed for use with a 7.62x54 cartridge, while the capacity of its magazine varies from 10 to 20 cartridges and its weight is 4.2 kilos. The rifle is equipped with a telescopic stock and adaptive cheek rest. The Picatinny rail covering the whole of the receiver makes it possible to mount any attachments. The stock, receiver, and barrel are lined up to lessen muzzle rise.
