Belarusian State Border Committee reports stabilization on border with Ukraine

MINSK. May 29 (Interfax) - The situation on the Belarusian-Ukraine border has stabilized, the Belarusian State Border Committee said.

"The situation in the border sector protected by the Gomel border group has stabilized," the Gomel border group spokesman said on the state-run ONT television channel on Sunday.

"It nonetheless remains tense. We are seeing provocations of the other side. [...]. Yet border guards react calmly, keep record and continue to protect the border," the spokesman said.

Belarusian State Border Committee Chairman Anatoly Lappo said earlier that a mobile group equipped with armored vehicles, mortars and drones had been formed to operate on the Belarusian-Ukrainian border.
