No Putin-Erdogan phone call currently planned, but is likely soon - Peskov (Part 2)

MOSCOW. May 29 (Interfax) - No telephone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is planned at the moment, but it is highly likely to be arranged in the near future, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

"It's not on the schedule at the moment," Peskov told journalists in reply to a relevant question on Monday.

At the same time, "phone calls with the Turkish president are usually agreed upon very quickly," he said.

"It's safe to say with a high degree of certainty that such a conversation will take place in the near future," he said.

Asked whether the parties have been planning a personal meeting between the two presidents, Peskov said, "One way or another, it will definitely take place at some point down the road, but there have been no time plans thus far."

Asked whether Putin might travel to Turkey to attend Erdogan's inauguration ceremony after his recent victory in the presidential election, Peskov replied that the Kremlin is unaware whether Turkey intends to invite foreign leaders to this ceremony.

After a journalist cited Turkish presidential spokesperson Ibrahim Kalin as saying that Ankara plans to invite foreign leaders to the inauguration ceremony, Peskov replied, "We'll wait. There has been no invitation yet."
