MOSCOW. May 30 (Interfax) - Israeli warplanes have struck targets in the area of the Syrian capital, and air defense systems intercepted some of the bombs, a high-ranking Russian military official said.
"Two Israeli Air Force F-15 tactical aircraft struck targets in the outskirts of Damascus with GBU-39 precision guided bombs from airspace over the occupied Golan Heights at 11:45 p.m. on May 28," Rear Adm. Oleg Gurinov, deputy chief of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria, told journalists.
Syrian air defense forces on duty intercepted two of the bombs with Buk-M2E systems, he said.
"The Israeli airstrike damaged two storage facilities. It did not cause casualties," he said.
