Russian State Duma to come up with measures to counter illegal use of drones - Duma committee head

MOSCOW. May 31 (Interfax) - A working group has been created to come up with measures to counter the illegal use of drones, Russian State Duma Information Policy, IT and Communications Committee head Alexander Khinshtein said.

"The State Duma Council today has supported our initiative on the creation of a working group in the parliament to improve the legislation governing the use of drones, including work on measures to counter their illegal use," Khinshtein said on his Telegram channel on Wednesday.

The corresponding address to State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin was sent on behalf of four committees: the Information Policy, IT and Communications Committee, the Transport Committee, the Security Committee, and the Industry Committee, he said.

Khinshtein saidhe hopes the working group will prepare a package of necessary documents shortly. "The lack of comprehensive regulation in this area, as I have said more than once before, looks especially alarming amid increasing sabotage attacks using drones," he said.
