CAPE TOWN. May 31 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is in Cape Town, the final leg of his African tour, which began earlier this week, an Interfax correspondent said.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said previously that Lavrov will attend a meeting of BRICS foreign ministers in Cape Town on June 1-2 and discuss preparations for the next BRICS summit.
"The participants in this event will discuss current international agenda issues, interaction on leading international platforms, and will exchange views on the future development of the BRICS strategic partnership, including the bloc's institutional development," Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said earlier.
"It is planned to pay special attention to preparations for the 15th summit of the five [nations], due to be held on August 23-24," she said.
