VORONEZH. May 31 (Interfax) - Several Russian regions are ready to take in people leaving border areas, Belgorod region governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said.
"I addressed the governors of the Voronezh, Tomsk, Penza, Kaluga, Yaroslavl regions, Stavropol Territory, Crimea, and North Ossetia. They have all gladly responded to the request [to accommodate residents of border areas]," Gladkov said during a livestream on social media on Wednesday.
Today, 300 children left Shebekino and set off for Voronezh, he said.
"Tomorrow, 200 people, mothers or grandmothers with children, are leaving for Penza. On Saturday, 300 children are departing to Yaroslavl from the Graivoron district, and 300 children to Kaluga from the Shebekino district. In addition, the Lipetsk governor and I agreed today that 200 people, specifically families with little children, will go to them [the Lipetsk region]. The governor of the Tomsk region has decided to take in another 200 of our people, [who will go] as entire families," Gladkov said.
Speaking of the difficult situation in border areas, the governor said that he had reported the situation in the region to the Russian president earlier on Wednesday.
The town of Shebekino and the Shebekino urban district were subjected to massive attacks from the Ukrainian territory in the past few days. Two civilian were reported dead and several wounded.
