VORONEZH. June 1 (Interfax) - Residents of Russia's Shebekino district are being placed in temporary accommodation in Belgorod, Belgorod Mayor Valentin Demidov said.
"The situation in the district is becoming more difficult. Therefore, we will provide an option to stay in Belgorod to everyone who wishes. The largest temporary accommodation is at the Belgorod Arena. It has capacity for 1,000 people, but we will be able to take in another 250 if necessary. Registration is in progress: 134 people, including 34 children, have already been registered," Demidov said on Telegram on Thursday.
The facility is divided into several zones, including those for families with children, for people with limited mobility, and for all other categories. Areas for mothers and children are also available. Psychologists and doctors are on duty. Hot food will also be provided, Demidov said.
"We are preparing another two temporary accommodation facilities to take people in. There are many families with children and disabled people. We will try to give them as much care and attention as possible," he said.
The Shebekino urban district has been a target of large-scale Ukrainian attacks for days. The authorities have organized evacuation for anyone wishing to leave.
