Casualty rate rises to nine in Russia's Shebekino as another attack launched - Belgorod governor

BELGOROD. June 1 (Interfax) - Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of Russia's Belgorod region, has reported another attack on Shebekino and injuries sustained by a local resident.

"The Ukrainian Armed Forces have fired Grad rockets at the city of Shebekino," Gladkov said on Telegram.

A local resident was injured, he said.

"A dormitory is on fire after it was hit directly by shells. The administration's building has been damaged. The city is experiencing a power outage. All information is being updated," Gladkov said.

Earlier reports said that eight local residents were injured in attacks on Shebekino.

Gladkov denied reports by some Telegram channels of an attack on a bus in Shebekino.

"Many publications said that one person was killed and two were injured on a bus. This information has not been confirmed by either the district head or the paramedic team that examined the bus. It's empty," he said.

The Shebekino urban district has been sporadically attacked from Ukraine in recent days. The authorities have organized evacuation to temporary accommodation facilities for anyone wishing to leave.

As of January 1, 2023, the Shebekino urban district had a population of 83,600, including 38,900 who live in the city of Shebekino.
