Ukrainian Su-25 plane downed in Zaporozhye region - Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. June 1 (Interfax) - Russian forces have downed a Ukrainian Sukhoi Su-25 plane in the Zaporozhye region, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said.

"Air defense has downed a Ukrainian Air Force Su-25 plane near Novoandreyevka in the Zaporozhye region," Konashenkov said at a press briefing on Thursday.

Sixteen projectiles fired by HIMARS high mobility artillery rocket systems and Uragan and Olkha multiple rocket launchers were intercepted in the past 24 hours, he said.

Seventeen Ukrainian drones were destroyed in the Lugansk and Donetsk People's Republics, Konashenkov said.

"Tactical aircraft, army aviation, missile units and artillery from the contingents of the Russian Armed Forces hit 103 artillery units at their firing positions and troops and military hardware in 149 areas over the past 24 hours," he said.

In addition, command and observation posts of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' 81st Air Mobile Brigade and 108th Territorial Defense Brigade were hit in the Donetsk People's Republic and the Zaporozhye region, Konashenkov said.
