BELGOROD. June 1 (Interfax) - A civilian has been injured in an attack on the village of Novaya Tavolzhanka in the Shebekino urban district of Russia's Belgorod region, Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said.
"A number of communities in the Shebekino and Graivoron districts are under attack from the Ukrainian Armed Forces. According to the preliminary information, there is one casualty in Novaya Tavolzhanka: a man has sustained a shrapnel wound to his right shoulder. A shell sparked a fire in a private house. The blast wave hit a number of private houses," Gladkov said on Telegram.
There were no casualties in the village of Kozinka in the Graivoron district, he said.
"Two private houses are on fire. Information about damage to communities is being updated," Gladkov said.
As reported earlier, nine civilians were hurt in attacks on the city of Shebekino on Thursday. Another two individuals, both village teachers, were hurt in an attack on Novopetrovka in the Valuyki urban district on Thursday.
The Shebekino urban district has been sporadically attacked from Ukraine in recent days. The authorities have organized evacuation to temporary accommodation facilities for anyone wishing to leave.
The border territories of the Belgorod region have come under sporadic attack from the Ukrainian side since February 24, 2022. Civilian casualties have been reported. The region has declared a yellow (high) level of terrorist threat and imposed a state of emergency in 15 border settlements.
