Meeting with Azerbaijani, Armenian leaders productive - European Council president

BAKU. June 1 (Interfax) - European Council President Charles Michel has described a meeting with the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Chisinau on Thursday as productive.

Baku and Yerevan are working intensely to normalize their relationship, Michel said after his meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron

The attendees discussed all issues that were raised at an earlier meeting in Brussels on May 14, including border delimitation, the drafting of a peace treaty, and this current meeting served as a good preparation for the meeting due in Brussels on July 21, Michel was quoted by Azerbaijani media as saying.

The European Union intends to continue to support the two countries' normalization, he said.

The sides decided to meet once again in a five-way format on the sidelines of the third summit of the European Political Community in Spain this October, Michel said.
