MOSCOW. June 2 (Interfax) - Forty five percent of Russians consider the special military operation the most important event of last week, the Public Opinion Foundation said in a statement on its website on Friday.
Such respondents explained their answer in terms of the need to ensure national security and sympathy for the combatants.
The other most significant events of last week include the further escalation of Russia's relations with the West, including over arms supplies to Kiev, and the presidential runoff in Turkey.
The Public Opinion Foundation polled 1,500 respondents aged 18 and over in 104 communities in 53 regions of Russia on May 26-28, 2023.
The share of respondents who view the special military operation as the most significant event, polled by the Public Opinion Foundation since the end of February, has varied from 30% to slightly over 40%. The pollster reported a 34% share on May 5, versus 42% in early March. The share began growing again in mid-May and reached 44%.
