BEIJING. June 2 (Interfax) - China did not expect its mission to Europe to provide an instant result for the Ukraine crisis, and its goal was to achieve a better understanding of the involved parties' positions, Chinese Foreign Ministry Special Representative for Eurasian Affairs Li Hui said on Friday.
"A rapid result was not the goal of my trip. [...] It was much more important to get a better understanding of the various sides' positions and to convey the Chinese position which promotes peace talks," Li said at a press conference aired by Chinese television.
The combined efforts of all sides can help settle the Ukraine crisis peacefully, he said.
Now Beijing "will intensify dialogue and communication with all parties involved in order to achieve mutual understanding," Li said.
Li visited Kiev, Warsaw, Berlin, Paris, Brussels and Moscow in May to discuss how to settle the Ukraine situation.
