Putin invites Security Council members to discuss Russia's interethnic relations

MOSCOW. June 2 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that Russia's opponents must not be allowed to unsettle the situation in the country.

Hosting a regular meeting with Russian Security Council permanent members on Friday, Putin invited them to discuss interethnic relations in the country, which he said are extremely important given that 190 ethnic groups live in Russia.

"We will address these issues in particular today, in terms of ensuring Russia's security, in this case domestic political security, bearing in mind the efforts that those who wish us ill are still undertaking and intensifying in order to unsettle the situation within the Russian Federation," Putin said.

"And we should do our utmost to not allow them to do this under any circumstances," he said.

Federal Security Service Director Alexander Bortnikov and Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev will deliver keynote reports on the issue.
