Ukraine conflict should be settled at negotiating table - Kyrgyz president

CHOLPON-ATA. June 2 (Interfax) - Kyrgyzstan welcomes any peace initiative that contributes to a settlement of the Ukraine conflict, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov said.

"Regarding international security, I cannot help but mention the situation in Ukraine. The Kyrgyz side is convinced that every conflict should be settled at the negotiating table. We welcome mediating efforts and peace initiatives that contribute to finding a mutually acceptable solution to stop this conflict," Japarov said at the Central Asia-European Union summit in Cholpon-Ata on Friday.

"Kyrgyzstan is committed to the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty and non-interference in other states' internal affairs, and calls for the universally recognized principles and norms of international law to be honored. Today, we are concerned by the new arms race and the hotbeds of tension appearing around the world. Under these circumstances, it is very important to work together to bolster global and regional security, with due account taken of each country's interests," Japarov said.
