No prerequisites for Russia-U.S. talks on strategic security - Kremlin (Part 2)

MOSCOW. June 2 (Interfax) - There are currently no plans for possible negotiations between Russia and the United States on strategic security, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

"There are no plans for this right now, although there definitely should be," Peskov told journalists when asked whether Russia might start talks on strategic security with the U.S.

Journalists also asked Peskov to comment on the U.S. countermeasures introduced under the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (New START). In particular, he was asked whether Moscow has received the corresponding notification, and whether it is maintaining any contacts with Washington on the matter.

"Information is exchanged here via diplomatic channels. You should ask the Foreign Ministry [about this]," he said.
