BAKU. June 5 (Interfax) - The Azerbaijani military has prevented an attempted reconnaissance flight using a quadcopter by Armenian formations in Karabakh, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said.
"A quadcopter, belonging to members of illegal Armenian military units operating on Azerbaijani territory where Russian peacekeepers are temporarily stationed, was spotted at around 8:10 p.m. on June 4, while performing a reconnaissance flight over the positions of our army in the Aghdam district," the ministry said.
A quick response by Azerbaijani troops neutralized the quadcopter.
Meanwhile, Armenian troops stationed near Zarkand in the Basarkechar region fired small arms at Azerbaijani army positions in Yukhari Ayrim, in the Kalbajar region [on the border with Armenia], at 6:25 p.m. on Sunday, the ministry said.
Azerbaijani units returned fire, it said.
The Armenian Defense Ministry denied the firefight took place.
"A statement by the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry alleging that units of the Armenian Armed Forces fired at Azerbaijani positions on the eastern part of the border at 6:25 p.m. on June 4 is yet more disinformation," the Armenian Defense Ministry's press service said.
