BELGOROD. June 5 (Interfax) - The Shebekino urban district came under another large-scale attack from the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Monday morning, district administration head Vladimir Zhdanov said at an operational meeting on Monday.
"As of 8:30 a.m. today, Novaya Tavolzhanka was hit by more than 70 rockets from Grad multiple rocket systems, while more than 15 tube artillery shells hit the city of Shebekino," Zhdanov said.
It is currently impossible to begin repairing houses in these communities, he said.
The Shebekino urban district in the Belgorod region has been the recent target of large-scale Ukrainian strikes. Casualties have been reported. The authorities have provided voluntary evacuation to temporary accommodation facilities within the region and in other parts of Russia.
The region has declared a yellow (high) level of terrorist alert due to the attacks, and a state of emergency is in effect in 15 border communities.
