Experts believe Kakhovka HPP destruction doesn't threaten Zaporozhye NPP safety - Peskov

MOSCOW. June 6 (Interfax) - Nuclear power industry experts believe that the destruction of the dam of the Kakhovka Hydropower Plant (HPP) does not pose an immediate threat to the safety of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

During a briefing on Tuesday, journalists cited reports suggesting that the dropping water level in the Kakhovka reservoir might have a negative effect on the Zaporozhye NPP's safety.

"There is the cooling issue as regards the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant. We've heard statements from experts that there is no threat and no danger for now," Peskov replied.

He suggested that more detailed comments on the matter could be obtained from specialists.
