MOSCOW. June 6 (Interfax) - The act of sabotage at the Kakhovka Hydropower Plant (HPP) is linked to the Ukrainian Armed Forces' unsuccessful offensive and is an attempt to deprive Crimea of fresh water, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.
"Beyond any doubt, one of the goals of this act of sabotage was to deprive Crimea of water. Water levels in the reservoir are falling. Consequently, the water flow into the canal is decreasing sharply," Peskov told reporters when commenting on the damage caused to the Kakhovka HPP.
"In all likelihood, this act of sabotage is also linked to the fact that, by starting large-scale offensive operations two days ago, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are not currently achieving their goals. These offensive operations are bogging down," he said.
