MOSCOW. June 6 (Interfax) - Bastion missile systems have been deployed on the shore of the Baltic Sea in Russia's Kaliningrad region for an exercise, the Russian military said on Tuesday.
"Bastion missile systems will soon practice the destruction of mock enemy groups of warships using electronic launches," the Russian Baltic Fleet's press service said.
Bastion is designed to protect over 600 kilometers of coastlines against surface ships of various types and classes amid intensive gunfire and electronic countermeasures. Each system caries up to 36 Oniks missiles.
As reported earlier, the Baltic Fleet exercise involves up to 40 warships, boats and supply vessels, more than 3,500 troops, up to 25 aircraft, and up to 500 pieces of combat and special hardware.
