Kiev's counteroffensive unsuccessful - Russian State Duma speaker

MOSCOW. June 6 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Armed Forces' counteroffensive is not achieving its goals, Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said.

"The Kiev regime's counteroffensive has been ongoing for the second day. It is not accidental that [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky, [NATO Secretary General Jens] Stoltenberg and [U.S. President Joe] Biden are keeping silent on that. There are no successes. The goals and tasks are not being achieved. The losses are enormous," Volodin said on his Telegram channel on Tuesday.

"Over the past day alone, our Armed Forces have eliminated about 2,000 Ukrainian troops and foreign mercenaries and have burned 32 tanks, including eight German Leopard tanks, three French AMX-10s, 109 infantry fighting vehicles," he said.

Western countries "trained and armed military formations" of Ukraine, "promising a successful offensive," but "the Barbarossa-2 plan has failed," Volodin said.
