MOSCOW. June 6 (Interfax) - An airmobile rescue team has been deployed to the Kherson region on the orders of Russian Emergency Situations Minister Alexander Kurenkov to mitigate a rise in the Dnieper river's water level after the Kakhovka Hydropower Plant was destroyed, the ministry's press service said on Tuesday.
"An airmobile team from the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry's regional department for the Republic of Crimea has been deployed to the Kherson region to help the population. It includes specialized hardware and boats," the press service said.
Airmobile teams of the ministry's Rostov regional department, the Don and Tula rescue centers, and the southern regional search-and-rescue unit are on standby, it said.
Three taskforces from the ministry's Kherson regional department are operating in the flood zone.
