MOSCOW. June 6 (Interfax) - State Duma Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Leonid Slutsky has discussed possible inter-parliamentary interaction with representatives of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party with European Parliament member Gunnar Beck.
"We have agreed to continue contacts and potentially set up a special inter-parliamentary and inter-party format. AfD could join it on the German side, and members of the State Duma Foreign Affairs Committee [could do so] on the Russian [side]," Slutsky wrote on his Telegram channel following the meeting on Tuesday.
Beck "came to Moscow despite all the Russophobic hysteria in the West," he said.
"We discussed Ukraine in particular detail. For my part, I informed [Beck] about the reasons which prompted Russia to launch the special military operation, and [about] Ukraine disrupting the peaceful negotiating process on orders from overseas," he said.
