No power supply in flooded part of Novaya Kakhovka, authorities waiting for power generators, water pumps to arrive

ROSTOV-ON-DON. June 7 (Interfax) - There is no power supply in the Novaya Kakhovka area flooded after Kakhovka Hydropower Plant infrastructure was destroyed in the Kherson region, acting Kherson Governor Vladimir Saldo said.

"Drinking water supply has been arranged, and there is food in the city. Power supply has been cut in the flooded part of the city to avoid electrical shock incidents. Power generators and water pumps are expected to arrive," Saldo said on Telegram.

Novaya Kakhovka is heavily flooded, yet the administration copes with the emergency, he said. People, primarily children and parents with young children, are being evacuated from danger zones.

The Kakhovka main canal is still full of water, but the authorities are expecting the water level to go down as the Kakhovka reservoir shallows.
