MOSCOW. June 7 (Interfax) - A resident of Russia's Primorye Territory has been detained for providing Ukrainian intelligence with information about local military sites, the Federal Security Service (FSB) said in a statement.
"The Russian Federal Security Service has stopped the illegal activity of a resident of Primorye Territory who committed treason by spying for the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's Main Intelligence Department," the FSB said.
The Primorye resident, "acting on orders from Ukrainian military intelligence, gathered information about the sites of law enforcement agencies and military infrastructure in the territory and shared it with a [Ukrainian] agent," it said.
The FSB investigative department has opened a criminal case against the detainee on counts of treason punishable with up to life imprisonment.
The detainee was charged and placed under arrest, the FSB said.
