MOSCOW. June 13 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a bill on confiscating assets obtained by cybercrime into law, a statement on the official website of legal information says.
The bill augments the list of crimes that can be penalized by the confiscation of assets.
The list now includes illegal access to computer information protected by law if this action resulted in the "destruction, blocking, modification or copying of computer information that inflicted large-scale damage or was committed out of lucrative interest committed by a group of persons by previous concert or by an organized group."
Under the law, confiscation will also follow if such crime was committed by a person abusing their office, and if it had grave consequences or created a threat of them; the creation, use or dissemination of malware or illegal influence on Russian critical information infrastructure.
