MOSCOW. June 15 (Interfax) - Australia's decision not to lease land for the construction of a new Russian embassy building is yet another manifestation of Russophobia, and Moscow will bear this in mind in its future bilateral relations, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"To our deep regret, Australia diligently continues to follow the lead of creators of Russophobic hysteria in the countries of the collective West. Australia is trying to distinguish itself among these countries," Peskov said.
This decision "is yet another unfriendly display by Australia," he said.
"We will bear this in mind and will act accordingly regarding any issues that need to be addressed on the principle of reciprocity," Peskov said.
A bill passed by the Australian parliament cancels the lease of land for construction of a Russian embassy building for security reasons. The plot is adjacent to parliamentary premises, and MPs decided that the proximity was such that it involved the risk of espionage.
