ROSTOV-ON-DON. June 16 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Armed Forces have been trying to break through defense lines in the Zaporozhye region for nine days, acting governor of the Zaporozhye region Yevgeny Balitsky said.
"The enemy has been trying to break through defense lines in the Zaporozhye sector for the past nine days. We have not given up any strategic locality," Balitsky said on Telegram.
The populated localities on the Vremevka bulge, which media outlets write about, are located in the lowlands and are open to gunfire from any direction, he said.
"If their attacks continue as they have been in the past nine days, I think we will be able to swallow them within a month or a month and a half, split them into atoms, and have a chance to seize the initiative, after tiring out the enemy. In my opinion, so far, everything is going according to the likely scenario right for us," Balitsky said.
