ST. PETERSBURG. June 16 (Interfax) - Ukraine has lost more than 180 tanks and more than 400 armored vehicles in its counteroffensive in the special military operation zone, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"Their losses are very big, approximately more than one to ten compared to the Russian army. This is a fact. As for equipment, more and more of this equipment is lost every day. The Ukrainian army has lost 186 tanks and 418 armored vehicles as of today," Putin said at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on Friday.
"What is happening to the so-called counteroffensive? [...] In some places Ukrainian units manage to reach the first line, and in some places they don't. That is not the issue, the issue is how they use [their] so-called strategic reserves, which are composed of several components: the first of them is intended for breaking through defenses, and the other is for using troops to reinforce positions on territory, for moving across territory," the president said.
"They have not achieved their goals in any areas," Putin said.
