ST. PETERSBURG. June 16 (Interfax) - Bilateral cooperation between Russia and China has great potential, and Moscow and Beijing had ambitious plans even before the collapse of relations between Russia and the West, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.
"We also had ambitious plans to develop interaction with China even before the collapse of our relations with the West. And now it's even more reasonable," Peskov said in an interview on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on Friday.
The current situation opens up new possibilities, even though there are some difficulties involved, Peskov said. "There are certain difficulties, these are not easy partners; you have to adapt to them, and they have to adapt to us. We should step up the volume of relations to make sure that we truly have an atmosphere of mutual confidence. But we can already say now that the potential is great, and it's far from having been exhausted," he said.
