Russian naval aviation bombards mock enemy airfields during exercise in Kaliningrad region

MOSCOW. June 16 (Interfax) - Russia's naval aviation has carried out bombing exercises and practiced providing air support for ground troops during an exercise in the Kaliningrad region, the Baltic Fleet said.

"[Sukhoi] Su-24M bombers and Su-30SM2 multirole fighters launched precision strikes using bombs against mock enemy targets," the Baltic Fleet said in a statement on Friday.

This involved "precision bombing and shooting at full-sized practice targets representing mock enemy airfields, personnel, and equipment, using P50-T thermobaric practice weapons and 30mm artillery shells," it said.

This was a routine exercise, and the practice (including air support for ground troops) took place at an aviation training range in the eastern Kaliningrad region, it said.

"More than 25 sorties were carried out to deploy air-based weapons. The sorties involved more than ten flight crews," the statement said.
