MOSCOW. June 23 (Interfax) - The Russian Armed Forces have repelled the Ukrainian army's attacks in three sectors over the past day, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said at a press briefing on Friday.
"Over the past day, the most active attempts to mount an offensive were undertaken by units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the southern Donetsk, Zaporozhye and Donetsk sectors," Konashenkov said.
"As result of the professional and selfless actions by units of the eastern group of forces, airstrikes and artillery fire, three attacks by combined units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were repelled at the Vremevsky ledge in the southern Donetsk sector," he said.
In this area, the Ukrainian army lost more than 130 troops, five tanks, three infantry fighting vehicles, three armored combat vehicles, four automobiles, two D-20 howitzers, and a Polish-made Krab self-propelled artillery system, he said.
Two Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups were neutralized in the Pologi tactical sector and in the Zaporozhye region, Konashenkov said.
In the Donetsk sector, "active operations by the southern group of forces helped to successfully repel four enemy attacks near the towns of Pervomaiskoye, Berdychi and Maryinka in the Donetsk People's Republic [DPR]," he said.
The Ukrainian army's losses in this sector included more than 90 troops, two armored fighting vehicles, three pickup trucks, and D-20 and Msta-B howitzers, he said.
An ammunition depot of the 118th Territorial Defense Brigade was destroyed in the DPR, Konashenkov said.
"In the Kupyansk sector, up to 30 Ukrainian troops were killed and two armored fighting vehicles, three automobiles and a Polish-made Krab self-propelled artillery system were destroyed over the past day as a result of strikes by army aviation, artillery fire and active operations by units of the western group of forces," he said.
Four Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups were neutralized in the Lugansk People's Republic (LPR), the DPR and the Kharkov region, Konashenkov said.
"In the Krasny Liman sector, airstrikes and artillery fire from the central group of forces defeated Ukrainian units near Ploshchanka in the LPR and in the Serebryansky forest district," he said.
"Up to 90 Ukrainian troops were killed and two infantry fighting vehicles, two armored combat vehicles, two pickup trucks, two Gvozdika self-propelled artillery systems, and D-20 and D-30 howitzers were destroyed over the past day," Konashenkov said.
The Ukrainian army's losses in the Kherson sector over the past day included more than 40 troops, four automobiles, and a U.S.-made M777 artillery system, he said.
