MOSCOW. June 23 (Interfax) - Around ten Sukhoi Su-24 bombers and Su-30SM2 fighters practiced bombing a mock enemy during an exercise in the Kaliningrad region, the Russian Baltic Fleet said in a statement Friday.
"During the exercise, the aircraft trained bombing a target field and ground targets at one of the training ranges in the eastern part of the Kaliningrad region," the statement said.
The routine exercise involved around ten crews of Su-24 and Su-30SM2 from the Fleet's naval aviation.
"During practice flights, the planes worked out tactical episodes executing tasks as intended: providing fire support for ground units, destroying mock enemy command posts, armor and troops, and conducting aerial reconnaissance," the statement said.
The crews practiced elements of maneuvering during an aerial battle and "target runs in a 'hostile' radar jamming environment."
The pilots made around 20 sorties, the Fleet said.
