MOSCOW. June 24 (Interfax) - Forty-four ships and vessels are due to join the Russian Navy in 2023, Russian Navy Commander Nikolai Yevmenov said.
"In all, we are to have 44 ships and vessels join the navy by the end of the year. It depends on you how efficiently they will be used," the Russian Defense Ministry's press service quoted Yevmenov as saying at a ceremony of awarding diplomas to the best graduates of the Naval Academy on Saturday.
The fleets have continued to effectively accomplish the missions of strategic deterrence, as well as ensuring the security of maritime activities, he said, congratulating the servicemen on graduation. More than 60 ships and submarines are on combat duty in various parts of the World Ocean, he said.
"The Navy has continued to get modern ships, submarines, aircraft, arms, and military hardware," Yevmenov said.
In particular, "the Admiral Gorshkov frigate armed with state-of-the-art Tsirkon hypersonic missiles entered the combat service," he said.
