Counterterrorism operation over in Moscow, Moscow region

MOSCOW. June 26 (Interfax) - The operational headquarters of Moscow and the Moscow region have reported the end of counterterrorism operation.

"The chief of the Russian Federal Security Service's department in Moscow and the Moscow region has decided to end the legal regime of counterterrorism operation in the territories of Moscow and the Moscow region starting from 9 a.m. on June 26, 2023," the department's press service quoted the headquarters as saying in a statement.

The temporary restrictions in effect in the Moscow area are now lifted, the FSB said.

"The current situation in the Moscow area is stable," the headquarters said.

The counterterrorism operation began in the Moscow area on Saturday morning.

The National Antiterrorism Committee said that was done due to a threat of possible terror attacks.
