Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reports procurement of new missile systems

BAKU. June 26 (Interfax) - Azerbaijan is procuring new missile systems to achieve its army's new objectives, Azerbaijani Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov said.

"In addition to the missiles in our disposal, and we replenished their stock after the war [the Second Karabakh War of September-November 2020], we are also upgrading certain missiles, considering that some of them had problems with electronic countermeasures of the enemy during the hostilities. We are also buying new missile systems to achieve new objectives of our army and to deal with the threats to Azerbaijan," Hasanov said in an interview with the Azerbaijani television channel CBC.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said earlier that the procurement of new weapons continued after the Second Karabakh War and numerous contracts had been signed for the delivery of new unmanned aerial vehicles and long-range missiles with high efficiency and accuracy.
