Qatari emir supports Russian leadership's response to June 24 events in phone call with Putin - Kremlin

MOSCOW. June 26 (Interfax) - The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, has called Russian President Vladimir Putin by phone, the Kremlin's press service said on Monday.

"The Qatari leader expressed support for the Russian leadership's response to the events of June 24," the press service said.

"Both sides noted a high level of Russian-Qatari cooperation and reaffirmed mutual interest in its further strengthening in various areas," it said.

"The results of a visit of Qatari Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani to Russia last week was given a positive assessment in that context," the press service said.

Putin cordially congratulated Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the tenth anniversary of his enthronement and the upcoming Eid al-Adha holiday, it said.

"It was agreed on further contacts," the press service said.
