Territorial garrison being enhanced in Russia's Kursk region - authorities

KURSK. June 26 (Interfax) - The territorial garrison is being enhanced in Russia's Kursk region, Kursk Governor Roman Starovoit said at an operative meeting on Monday.

"We are continuing to enhance our garrison together with the Defense Ministry to protect the lives and health of residents of the Kursk region and to ensure stable functioning of the economy and critical infrastructure of our region," Starovoit said.

Tensions persist in the region, he added.

A yellow (high) level of terrorist alert has been in force in the Kursk region since April 11, 2022. The region, which borders Ukraine, has repeatedly come under attack.
