MOSCOW. June 26 (Interfax) - A naval fighter regiment has begun tactical exercises in the Kaliningrad region, Russia's Baltic Fleet reported on Monday.
"Sukhoi Su-27 aircraft will practice intercepting planes violating the border and firing onboard weapons at a simulated enemy's cruise missiles and planes," it said.
More than 10 Su-27 fighter jets of the Baltic Fleet and over 100 servicemen are taking part in the drills, it said.
"Pilots and engineers will practice preparing aircraft for missions, performing evasive maneuvers, and redeploying to operational airfields," it said.
The exercises were planned in advance and will continue until the end of the week, it said.
