Putin: those who were drawn in mutiny saw that army and people do not side with them (Part 2)

MOSCOW. June 27 (Interfax) - Those who were drawn into the mutiny saw that the army and the people were not on their side, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"Your determination and courage, as well as the consolidation of the whole of Russian society played a huge, crucial role in stabilizing the situation. Those who were drawn into the mutiny saw that the army, the people do not side with them," Putin said on Tuesday when addressing representatives of security services that helped suppress the mutiny attempt.

Units of the Defense Ministry, the Russian Guard, the Federal Security Service, the Interior Ministry, and the Federal Guard Service that helped maintain law and order during the mutiny attempt gathered on Cathedral Square in the Kremlin on Tuesday. Personnel of the Special Rapid Deployment Forces, the OMON riot police and the traffic police are also present there, an Interfax correspondent reported.

More than 2,500 people are taking part in the event.
