YEREVAN. June 27 (Interfax) - Armenia's Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has discussed his country's normalization of its relations with Azerbaijan with United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
"A meeting between Mirzoyan and Blinken took place in Washington. [They] discussed regional security and stability [and] normalization between Armenia and Azerbaijan," the Armenian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.
Mirzoyan and Blinken stressed the importance of ensuring the delimitation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan is carried out, based on the Almaty declaration and the 1975 maps, as well as removing troops from the joint border and addressing the rights and safety of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, "which will be an important factor in establishing a lasting peace in the region."
The pair also "discussed unblocking regional transport infrastructure. Mirzoyan stressed the importance of Azerbaijan dropping its belligerent rhetoric and returning all Armenian POWs," the statement said.
It was reported that Washington is hosting another round of discussions between the Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers today.
