WASHINGTON. June 27 (Interfax) - Washington plans to impose new restrictions on the Wagner Group this week, the Department of State's spokesperson Matthew Miller said on Tuesday.
"We will have further announcements to make on holding Wagner accountable in the very near future," Miller told a briefing.
Asked by a journalist if the U.S. intended to do so as early as this week, Miller said: "Yes, this week."
He added that the U.S. continued to watch the group's activities in Ukraine and in Africa closely, and in other countries where it could be operating.
A day earlier, Miller said the U.S. had worked out a range of political measures to counter the influence of the Wagner Group.
Also on Monday, U.S. President Joe Biden said Washington and its allies played no part in the situation around Wagner in Russia.
