Over hundred Ukrainian shells fired at localities on Dnieper eastern bank in Kherson region in past 24 hours

ROSTOV-ON-DON. June 28 (Interfax) - Ukrainian forces have fired 108 artillery shells at communities on the Dnieper eastern bank in the Kherson region, where flood after-effects are being cleaned up, a representative of regional emergency services told reporters.

Tube artillery shelled civilian infrastructure in Novaya Kakhovka, Kakhovka, Alyoshki and Vasilyevka overnight, and 28 shells hit targets, he said.

Ukrainian attacks continued throughout the day on June 27. According to the emergency services, 80 shells were fired at communities on the Dnieper eastern bank. Alyoshki, Krynki, Dnepryany, Kazachy Lagerya, Peschanovka, Kardashinka, Korsunka and Solontsy. Information about casualties and damage is being verified.

Russia's Dnepr group returned fire and destroyed a D-20 howitzer, a 120mm mortar crew, two boats and several positions of the Ukrainian army on the western bank. Ukrainian forces lost 42 men killed and 28 wounded, the emergency services said.

The aftermath of the flood caused by the Kakhovka Hydropower Plant destruction on June 6 is being cleaned up on the Dnieper eastern bank in the Kherson region. Some populated localities are still flooded.
